About Montnegre i el Corredor Natural Park

Montnegre i el Corredor Natural Park is a protected natural area located in the Catalonia region of northeastern Spain, spanning parts of the Barcelona and Girona provinces. The park covers a diverse landscape of Mediterranean forests, rugged mountains, deep valleys, and coastal foothills. It is situated between the towns of Sant Celoni and Calella, providing a natural corridor between the coastal plain and the interior. The park includes the Montnegre massif and the Corredor mountain range, two distinct zones with rich flora such as cork oak, holm oak, pine forests, and evergreen shrubs. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including wild boars, foxes, and numerous bird species like eagle owls and peregrine falcons, making it a prime destination for wildlife observers and birdwatchers.

The park's landscape is interwoven with traditional farms, old paved rural roads, and ancient village ruins, showcasing a rich cultural heritage tied to Mediterranean agroforestry. Visitors can explore well-marked hiking and mountain biking trails that traverse scenic ridges, panoramic viewpoints, and quiet forest paths. Key landmarks include the historic Monastery of Sant Martí del Corredor and the picturesque Pico del Corredor summit, which offers sweeping views of the sea and the interior plains.

Outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to Montnegre i el Corredor for its accessibility from Barcelona and the Costa Brava coast, its quiet natural atmosphere, and the blend of outdoor recreation and cultural discovery.
